Choice Hypotheses

Where Choice is Fading Into Reality

Choice Hypotheses

Posted on March 24th, 2010 by Pamela E. Bailey

These choice hypotheses represent what I believe to be choices that we face every day that have ramifications to our eternity.  Some are obvious, but some are things that we don’t think about as events play out in front of us.  This list is a living thing that is not complete and will be updated and expanded with input from others on the internet web sites www.humannaturemanifesto.com or www.choicehypotheses.com.  Also, a social media network will be launched soon to explore these hypotheses further.  Keep checking these web sites for further information.

  1. Our beliefs are initially based upon our ancestors’ beliefs and are only subject to change as we learn about ourselves and become more fully actualized.
  2. We are all powerful because we choose.
  3. Unless we learn to choose in the moment, we will be forever subject to the whims and wishes of others.
  4. Intentions are the key to who a person is.  Without fully understanding “why they act,” we will never know who they are.  Who I am is why I act.
  5. Who you are is more important than who people think you are because, eventually, you’ll reveal your true self to others.
  6. The leader is never the person at the top of an organization or group, he/she is the person in the moment that advises the acknowledged leader and causes him/her to act.
  7. A lie won’t stand the test of time – eventually the truth will come out when you least expect it.
  8. You always get back what you give, so be careful what you do to others in the name of self or righteousness.
  9. If you don’t know yourself, you’ll easily become a pawn to the whims and wishes of others.
  10. We don’t have to lie to prove who we are.  Our actions, oftentimes, speak for themselves.
  11. One person should never be a majority because it means that his/her followers are not thinking for themselves.
  12. Chaos has a place, even though it makes us uncomfortable.
  13. Violence should never be an option.  We have to choose to invest the time to talk and listen to others and to understand our divisors without violence.
  14. A person should never let the jealousies of others change his/her actions.
  15. Winning is not always the best outcome.  We gain the most in recovering from the losses.
  16. Everyone can recover from their beginning one choice at a time.
  17. There is always someone around who advises you on the most ethical choice – even though you don’t always choose the most ethical action.  Therefore, only you are accountable for your actions.
  18. We will find and define ourselves one choice at a time.
  19. Making someone one-down to us won’t automatically make us one-up to them.
  20. Shades of gray obscure who we are, but reality shines through one action at a time.
  21. Fading into reality is like meeting a person for the first time.  We make an initial assessment of the person, but the reality of who they are fades in one viewed or experienced action at a time.
  22. The existence of eternity is something that we all wish for and many believe in.  The reality of eternity is something our actions garner for us.
  23. Your destiny changes with each choice.
  24. There are no shades of gray in politics because our words and actions are intended from either a good or a bad place.
  25. Power is an illusion that leads many astray.  A moment of time in eternity is not more valuable than our earthly life upon which our eternity is based.
  26. The spiritual person who fears death does so because they think they know what their actions in life have bought for them in eternity.
  27. Fear is a powerful motivator in the short run, but not forever.  One day the meek person will realize that the reason for the fear was just an illusion.
  28. Knowledge is not power because it doesn’t cause a person to act ethically.  Oftentimes, it falsely gives a person permission perform a benefit/risk analysis and bet on their eternity.
  29. As time progresses, communication becomes more open and children have to grow up before they have developed the skills to negotiate shades of gray.  Until they reach a certain age, their actions are charged against their parent’s eternity.
  30. The media attempts to shape and mold our world view.  Current communication technology properly tunes our vision to the actual reality of our world view.
  31. Race is the spark that ignites prejudices and causes people to act in unethical and unfaithful ways.
  32. Character is not something that others define or assess for us.  It is who we are based upon our choices and actions which are driven by our intentions.
  33. Quid pro quo is nothing if you don’t understand quid.  Always understand what is really happening in your interactions with others.
  34. Everyone wins when all are on the same level.  Although being one-up strokes our ego, the common good is more important to the survival and prospering of our civilization.
  35. Nothing in life is free.  Always know what you are giving up in acceptance of free or discounted items or services.
  36. Trust is an illusion that allows us to feel comfortable with others.  Don’t forget the illusion because in the end, most people will sacrifice your eternity for theirs.
  37. We understand our strength by going to the edge and testing our boundaries.  It is important, though, to know which boundaries are important to know and which don’t matter at all.
  38. Never base your eternity on what someone may or may not have done.  Remain principle-centered and treat others right and you protect your eternity.
  39. I am important because I am, if not to others, then to myself.  And that is all that matters.
  40. Never admit to others the full extend of all your fears because it will give them power to play effectively at being one-up to you.
  41. Never allow yourself to feel pleasure at someone else’s expense because you will eventually feel regret and guilt about it – if not now, when your life is played back to you for eternity determination.
  42. Never allow your attachment to someone to cloud your ability to choose the right path to take in keeping with your ethics, values and beliefs.
  43. Wealth is an earthly illusion that blinds us to the path to lasting happiness.
  44. Value the right things.  They are the things that are lasting and define “Who I Am.”
  45. As a policy, treating others the way you want to be treated is good.  But, every once in a while, you have to treat them the way they treat you so that they can learn your true value to them.
  46. Be willing to work with people you don’t like.  After all, how well do you know someone else?
  47. Schemers bank on the fact that you’ll never check back with the source of negative statements about you.
  48. Never allow others to impact what you will do.
  49. Reputation is nothing.  It is what people say about us based upon what others have said and assumed that you have done.
  50. I am not my brother’s keeper.  However, I am responsible and accountable for building a world where through our choices, we have the opportunity to be on an even level and have a comparable standard of life.
  51. The gossip that someone tells about someone else says more about the gossiper than the person who is the subject of the gossip.
  52. When ME gets lost in WE, both ME and WE lose.
  53. Changing eons of structure is difficult but not impossible and the possibility is worth it.
  54. Don’t take up someone else’s fight unless you totally understand the facts and still agree.  Their actions will brand you the same.
  55. Victim is a temporary state of being in which we choose to exist.
  56. There is always a choice or series of choices that can be made to level any situation again.
  57. Positive actions generate positive impressions with others which in turn create positive possibilities for you.
  58. Set boundaries with people based upon what you learn from their actions.  If they’ve proven to be treacherous, give them the power to only hurt you a little.
  59. Someone has to choose to be the bigger person by not resorting to violence in order for all violence to end once and for all.
  60. Choose to show who you are according to your standards at all times

Choice Hypotheses

This is the official repository of the 60 original Choice Hypotheses from the book Human Nature Manifesto by American author Pamela E. Bailey. New hypothesis will be added from time to time. However, they won’t be official until they find their way to this web site.

Visit the Human Nature Manifesto Social Media Network to discover your power.  You can network with others who are also searching for to find their true self.  Together we can help each other become the person(s) we desire to be.  Others will know us as who we truly are.
